| Timothy Joseph Heelan Born: December 19, 1964 Died:
January 30, 2008 Tim loved life. He jumped out of planes, explored the
undersea world, studied the galaxy, sped down mountains on snowboards
and skis, rode motorcycles (often on one wheel), hiked, biked and
traveled the world.
His sharp wit, amazing sense of humor and brilliant word-play left all
who met him rolling on the floor laughing. |
 |
| Tim loved gadgets, science fiction, books of all kinds,
music, movies, Trogdor, South Park, crossword puzzles (but only the hard
ones), and any kind of challenge. Tim was a true genius and member of
Mensa who absorbed and remembered everything. Tim also had that
incredibly rare gift of simplifying the complex and sharing it in a way
that taught us all so much. Tim had a gentle and compassionate heart,
strong opinions, and a clear sense of right and wrong.
He loved helping others which fit in perfectly with his chosen career
as a Firefighter. He loved his job. He started as a volunteer with the
Griffin Fire Department, was hired by Lacey and eventually moved on to
the Seattle Fire Department where he served the remainder of his
seventeen year career.
Tim's life ended too soon. He was 43 when cancer took him from us.
His powerful courage, grace, humor, and determination to protect his
family throughout his battle humbled all who knew him.
His father John, his mother Eileen, his sisters Shawn and Julie, his
brother Mike and his sister-in- law Dawn, his nephews Brandon, Jaidon
and Nicholas, and his niece Karissa all miss him so much, but we rejoice
in the knowledge that Tim is in heaven with our Lord Jesus.
A memorial service was held at St. Michael's Church, 1021 Boundary
Street SE, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 12:00 p.m., followed by a
celebration of Tim's life in the gathering space. Memorial donations in
Tim's name should be directed to cancer research or the Make a Wish
Foundation.
